But it is not something I would base a set of NFL Draft grades on, no matter how arbitrary. Cosell goes on to tout Quick’s overall set of “raw” skills, which is certainly more enticing. This is the kind of thing it is easier to handicap in the MLB Draft, when the difference between drafting raw, highly skilled players and polished college types is in the team’s ability to develop those tools goofs into actual baseball players. The NFL Draft is much more compressed, and if the Rams cannot find a place for Brian Quick to contribute early they will have a hard time avoiding the questions that followed Mardy Gilyard around after his invisible rookie season. I think he can play linebacker, inside or outside. I think he can play defensive end, he can rush in the middle sometimes, kind of like a hybrid, I think he can do some of the things I did last year, maybe more.” “Maybe more” is a scary thought after what Miller accomplished as a rookie last season. Ingram is steadily rising in mocks. Among the NFL Network crew, Chad Reuter currently has Ingram going No. 12 to Seattle Seahawks. They track that ball and make their body move to get in that track. That is what Morris has. He can flip his hips, turn, run and play the ball in the air.” The new-world NFL term for that is “ball skills.” Claiborne has got them. Perhaps he can attribute them to his high school career on offense, and the fact he was recruited to LSU as a receiver. He was surprised by the switch to defense, but Miles saw it coming.“We always wanted to see him at corner,” he said. “He had all the ability in the world to be that corner.” Claiborne never disappointed. He was a backup as a freshman, then started opposite Patrick Peterson in 2010 and led the Tigers with five interceptions. When Peterson was taken No. 5 overall by the Arizona Cardinals last April, Claiborne became the country’s premier cornerback. Claiborne might even surpass Peterson on draft day. He is in the mix for the Vikings at No. 3, the Browns at four and the Buccaneers at five.
